Recover digital photos from SD card
The Secure Digital card, commonly called the SD card is the most widely used flash storage media in most of the digital cameras that are used today. These flash memory cards are varied in nature depending on the storage capacity which ranges from a few MB to a few GB, and the different makes like Transcend, Kingston etc. It is highly resourceful due to its small size and the ease with which you can transfer data between different storage devices. Though this is a highly useful storage media, but it is not fail proof against common data loss scenarios.
The most common way in which photos get lost from an SD card is when the SD card is unplugged from the PC or the camera in an improper manner. The photo loss occurs, when the SD card is removed from the card reader without disconnecting the memory card correctly from the PC. The other common way in which photos are lost from the SD card, is when the SD card is formatted accidentally.
The best way to avoid further damage, in both the cases is to stop further usage of the SD card. This is highly beneficial, since there is little scope for overwriting of the deleted data, if further usage of the SD card is avoided. You can consequently remove the SD card from the digital camera, seal it and store it in a moisture free environment. The next best thing to do, is to download a good photo recovery software, and recover all your lost photos from the SD card. Digital Photo Recovery software lets you recover deleted, lost photos from IDE / ATA / SATA / SCSI hard disk drives, SD Cards, CF Cards, XD Cards, Memory Sticks, external Zip drives, FireWire and USB hard drives.
You can follow the steps given below, to successfully recover all the accidentally deleted photos from the SD card.
Step 1: Take out the memory card from the camera, and connect it to a healthy PC where the software has already been installed using a memory card reader. Run Photo Recovery software (Mac) by selecting it from the application folder. The main window pops up as shown in Figure a.
